The role of the Lower GEP Lead
Teacher is to oversee ACE’s General English Programs (Level 1-7B) to ensure
high-quality educational outcomes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Teaching
- Teach load of up to 13.5 hours per week primarily on
the General English Program.
- Cover classes as required when teachers are not
available.
Academic
- Work together with the Academic Team, other staff
members and experienced teachers to ensure high performance and promote
professionalism in the workplace.
- Monitor and evaluate implementation of the GEP
curriculum and materials and provide feedback to the Academic Team.
- Collaborate with the Academic Team to develop support
materials and training for the GEP curriculum as required.
- Provide day-to-day support for teachers on all GEP
course-related matters: e.g. lesson preparation, teaching materials, discipline
& amp; classroom management, assessing student progress, identifying
training needs through on going needs analysis.
- Be the principle point for communications between the
Academic Coordinator and the teachers, providing briefings, information on
updates and feedback.
- Manage extra-curricular activities and academic
projects: e.g. GEP Graded Readers.
Student
Counselling
- Counsel students with regards to issues such as
attendance, motivation, and level
- Support academic counselling working with CSO Team:
e.g. observe and participate in counselling at Open Days to help identify areas
for improvement.
Development
Observations
- Train and support new
observers.
- Observe teachers and
provide constructive feedback.
Professional
Development
- Conduct PD sessions
and encourage sharing sessions among teachers to build a supportive culture and
working environment.
- Provide feedback to
the Academic Team as required.
- Present at the annual
CamTESOL Conference and encourage teachers to present/attend, providing
guidance and support.
Administrative
- Provide
administrative and other support to teachers to ensure that the highest quality
service is provided to ACE students.
- Participate in and
run meetings as required, including LTM; JMT; Staff and New Teacher Meetings, etc.
- Keep up to date with
current statistics and data trends, including placement testing; enrolment and
retention rates; Academic Counselling and Open Day performance, etc, including
off-campus delivery and virtual classes.
- Generate data of
borderline and repeating students and work with teachers to help support the
struggling students throughout the term.
- Assist with
timetabling, assessments, and enrolment procedures for failing or borderline
students.
- Arrange mentors for
new teachers and identify level moderators for all lower GEP levels.
- Arrange peer
observations for new teachers appropriate to academic needs.
- Score the writing
section of GEP Placement Tests for prospective students (GEP Level 6+).
- Coordinate Mock IELTS
exams, Speakers for Tips Sharing Series, Graduation
Ceremony, etc
- Ensure open
communication between teachers and parents concerning students’ learning
progress and study options.
- Ensure open
communication between teachers-students-guardians concerning struggling or
troublesome students and deal with complaints regarding Academic performance.
- Manage teachers’ use
of staffroom facilities, ensuring general tidiness and a professional and
work-like environment exists.
- Collaborate with the
Points of Contact at their campus for ‘I’m ACE’ magazine or website as required
and encourage contributions from students and teachers.
- Interview prospective
teaching candidates (face-to-face, Zoom) and complete interview reports with
direction from the Campus Manager.
- Assist with the
induction of new teaching staff to the ACE working environment and culture to
ensure performance standards are met.
- Work on special
projects or support CSR
activities and public events.
Events
- Participate as
required in ACE events, including the Graduations, Spelling Bee/CAMbee
Competition, CamDEBATE, CamTESOL, GAC, Study Abroad Expos, etc.
- Coordinate and run
campus events as required: e.g. New Student’s Orientation, Open day, Children’s
Fair, Parent Teacher Meeting, Graduation, etc.
- Participate as
required in community and network outreach events: e.g. Children’s Fair,
Business Chamber, Plastic-Free Asia Environment, Grade 12 CSR project, ACE
Charity, etc.
Other: Any other duties as directed by the Campus Manager
